Not so. In Steinway and other pianos the net result of the
diaphramizing (panel thinning) can leave the board thickness at the =
edges
where the blocks are placed at .250 thick and the middle of the =
board can be
as much or more than 100. thicker. Even with a flat board this =
method of
measuring crown would give a false reading as the middle of the =
board will
always be thicker (higher) than the edges. If you use this method =
you've got
