The back check was flanged from the top back side of the butt and = held in place with a stiff steel spring. The jack was forked at the top, the = forward branch going under the butt an the rear branch out under the back check. = The rest of the action seemed "normal". Some of the hammers would bobble, = checking only with firm key blows.
