Chickering
upright, made in the 1920's. The hammers have side to side =
movement as a
result of loose centerpins in the bushings of the hammer
butt flanges. The flanges are metal.....they are =
not billings
flanges...She would like to preserve the value of the piano by =
maintaining
original parts, if at all possible. To install a one size larger =
center
pin through the birdseye of the butt would more than likely cause a =
split, since
the piano is so old and the parts are somewhat brittle. Can anyone =
offer
any advice about this situation, other than telling her to forget =
it?
