was one of the brands built by the "VEB Möbelkombinat Eisenberg" in =
former DDR
(east-Germany). It was very cheap instruments made at this state-owned =
company.
I have been told that the DDR-communist-state at that time exported =
large
amounts of cheap pianos to get "hard" currency (DM or US$) to the state. =
To
achieve that, they had to avoid using western parts... Only Blüthner =
(and
sometimes August Förster) used Renner Actions.</SPAN></FONT></DIV>

information.... <BR><BR>A customer of ours is looking to sell a Geyer =
baby
grand piano in high polish <BR>walnut. Based on purchase dates, =
the
piano is estimated to be approximately <BR>30 years old but no serial =
number
was found and beside the point there is no <BR>information in the =
Pierce Atlas
regarding this company other than the country <BR>of manufacture - =
Germany.
All parts of the piano are in good shape with <BR>normal wear =
and tear
for a 30 year old piano. There is one hairline fracture <BR>in =
the
treble bridge. The pin block is also soft for a 30 =
year-old-piano.
<BR>There is one wierd thing about the piano, the areas that =
were faded
by sun <BR>are not only faded but have turned a shade of green. =
The
finish does not <BR>seem to be affected, it is still very smooth, It =
is only
the color that seems <BR>to have been affected by the sun. =
Although the
piano is in reasonable shape, <BR>the greened portion of the piano =
makes it a
less saleable item. <BR><BR>Does anyone have any experience with =
Geyer?
Has anyone ever run across this <BR>fading problem? And is =
there
any way to correct this problem short of full <BR>refinishing? =
