provider, Clearwire, and asked them for a signal test, as I am out of their=
advertised service area. A knowledgeable techician came out and found =
a location for the modem in my second-floor home office where the signal str=
ength is way fine. Upload speed is advertised at 256k, download at up t=
o 768k for $35/mo, and 256k/1.5meg (which I signed up for) for $7 more. The =
first three months are even cheaper, if you sign up for a year (which I was =
glad to do).</FONT></DIV>

e-meg file which I download every week, which always took an hour to an hour=
:ten, now takes 49 seconds. Not as fast as cable (7 secs) but after years of=
playing solitaire while pages loaded, enough to make me squeal like a littl=

erage of 587 kbs download and 614 kbs upload. (I’ve run speed =
tests 165 times in the past 4 months and those are the averages. Yes, =
I know that’s irrational!) Overall I‘m very happy with=
the service. Actually there are two other companies covering this are=
a so there are choices. I’d really recommend calling one and g=
et them to run a test of signal strength rather than just guess by looking a=
t a map. So much depends on terrain and obstructions that a map of est=
imated signal strength won’t tell you much. My download speed =
is somewhat faster than the DSL we had before we moved, and the upload speed=
is MUCH faster. The cost is only $39.95 a month and I save further by=
having a VOIP phone using that internet connection and that only costs $14.=
