<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT><FONT face=Arial>Wouldn't be surprised if =
you're on the
right track Ron. Even in my few short years in this business, I have run =
across
numerous high-end pianos with key Balance Weights that are all over the =
place.
The keyboard likely measured out just fine the day it was built, but =
when some
clown comes along and evens out friction and regulates the piano nicely =
- watch
out! Heaven forbid if someone puts new hammers on - even worse, if they =
even out
the Strike Weights!</FONT></DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial>One of the first actions I worked on was a =
"nice" Baldwin
R 90 year old action. Just trying to understand how an action worked, I =
placed
weights on top of the capstans to balance the keys on their =
fulcrum. I was
amazed and dumbfounded when keys that were right next to one =
another
required significantly differing amounts of weight to balance.........
Duuuuhhhhhh!</FONT></DIV>
