hole drilled in the bridge cap must be slightly larger than =
the
shank of the screw.</FONT></DIV>

hide the screw

to pass
through the cap freely and thread into a pilot hole drilled into the =
bridge
root that is slightly smaller than to o.d. of the threads. The =
harder
the wood ,the closer the hole size to screw diameter .</FONT></DIV>

the threads
engaged the cap and pushed it apart. </FONT></DIV>

the cap
would split with a screw would be if you torqued it down too =
much at the
