I have over 20 Yamaha pianos from the early 70's that I tune regularly. None of them exhibit any of the characteristics you describe. They are uniformly built and are all excellent pianos. Some of these are grands and the rest are consoles.<BR>

Your pianos have most likely been worked on by someone since they left the Yamaha factory.<BR>
