The boards must have been pressed on= a dome.  I've seen 5 of these pianos now 4 grands and  2 or 3 upr= ight I can't recall the name of all but one was a 1910 Becker. In all cases = when the strings were off the boards  the salad bowl effect remained. I= t wasn't the result of too much bearing .
