I service a nice August Forster 6'4" =
that developed
a damper lever squeak. I finally tracked it down to two levers, =
took them
off and lubed them. This piano has a very unique mechanism. =
It has a
metal rod like uprights. The dampers are installed with the =
flanges to the
front with the rod behind them. I'm wondering if anyone knows a =
way to get
the rod out to lube it without having to take all 67 or so dampers =
loose.
The rod is mounted on 3 or 4 hinges like the uprights. There is a =
long
rail that the damper flanges are all mounted to. I'm =
wondering
if the rail can be removed. I didn't find mounting screws =
readily.
Might they be underneath the keybed? The piano is ok for now, but =
I'm
thinking ahead.
