The wrest pin punch with = "distance stop" of a cocktail stick taped to the punch. Also shows the long-nosed = pliers used to crimp in the kneb.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>2. That punch in = action.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>3. The small vise-grips hold the = hitch bend in position whilst cranking the string on the wrest = pin.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>4. The hardwood dowell with round = head screw guide with wrest pin in and crank ready to put six coils on. French = chalk is used to ensure the pin does not react jerkily to = tuning.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>My string maker, Gregor Heller, = advises me to "get those bass strings on pdq. In manufactur they are under tension = and increase their lenght by 8mm. Left un tensioned for any length of = time results in poor tonal quality.
