Recital Piano Usage

Hi Jeff,

I have been where you are and also where the students are. Practise room
pianos are just that. They are not performance instruments. So how is the
student supposed to learn on *budget* oriented pianos? Where the *buck*
determines the level of service?

Ask for the resources, and don't stick around if they don't want to do it
*right*. Some one has to tell them where the *buck* stops.

The only downside to private practise in our field is lack of benefits. I
cringe when I hear of *very* good and well respected tuners not being able
to buy a home for example.

Personally I have done well in private practise. Due do applying the adage
"either the customer pays or the tuner pays".

So what is the N E A?

Ask your employer for a living wage and enough resources to do your job
effectively. If you don't who will?
