Full-time seasonal position: Interlochen Center for the Arts has an opening for a resident piano technician to assist servicing approximately 300 pianos during its summer arts festival. Work with six other staff technicians tuning and preparing pianos for concert venues, recital halls, teaching studios, classrooms and practice rooms. Position begins June 5th and runs through August 12, 2001. Minimum qualifications: 1 year serious study and practice in tuning, minor repair and regulation; commitment to professional advancement, educational development and skill improvement in the field. Prefer graduates from accredited programs or those having professional level curriculums. Compensation: housing; meals; $1,900 stipend; continuing education opportunities; free admittance into most concerts and music/dance/theater/creative writing/fine arts courses. Residencies: Interlochen also has several positions available for 2-week professional-level residencies. These positions include concert-level prep of instruments, oversight of shop functions, and some teaching responsibilities.
