Hi David, and other Palm users, This sounds like a great system. I know Jim Harvey is very fond of Time and Chaos. I just happened to be going over some recent notes while preparing for the Pacific Northwest Conference next month in Vancouver, B.C. I will be showing some new and fun ways to use the Palm and some related devices. As for database use: Pendgragon Forms is a 3rd party program designed to be used with Microsoft Access. Synchronizing data between these two programs involves a bit of time to set up, but is pretty neat when you have things the way you want them. There is also a new program that I've just heard about (sorry, can't comment yet) called Thinking Bytes, thinksDB 2.0 and is described thus: "Thinking Bytes' thinkDB 2.0 for the Palm is a relational database manager that allows you to easily manage, edit, and share information between your PC and your handheld. Manage up to 100 databases, customize record lists with resizable columns and design your own forms to organize data in an efficient and accessible manner." Sounds promising. Hope this is useful. In the world of the Palm, there is something new everyday that will serve your needs, the challenge is in keeping up with it all. jeannie -----Original Message----- From: owner-caut@ptg.org [mailto:owner-caut@ptg.org]On Behalf Of David Ilvedson Sent: Thursday, February 15, 2001 4:25 PM To: caut@ptg.org Subject: Re: Palm Users I think Jeannie is the "Palm Queen" so to speak...I use it by hot synching to my database. I keep all the phone book, addresses, appointments and misc. on the pianos. For instance Mrs. Jones calls. I enter her in my database and set the appointment. I use the notes section for piano info, directions etc. I hot-sync and the appointment, phonebook and to-do are synchronized. I have learned to use the graffiti pretty well and enter shorthand info in the Palm at the job and hot-sync again that evening to keep the records together. If I was willing to carry a lap-top around (at this time "light" is the key) and use RCT I could certainly have more copious data at my disposal but I have come to the realization that I don't really need all the info. Name, address & directions will really work just fine. I really could keep all the piano data in the piano. It comes in handy for making calls when they come up on my cell phone. All my phone #s are right there.
