I am concerned about the velcro attachment system. The method of watering that has evolved here is to check tanks manually on a routine schedule, rather than by the warning lites. As this requires reaching into the tank, it will require detaching/re-attaching a portion of the bottom-cover weekly. I'm worried about how the velcro will hold up. re: between the beams I have retrofit several systems in preparation for bottom covers. Are Dampp-Chaser recommending suspending the tank on 'shortened' hangers for the 'tween the beams' thing, Don? I couldn't discern this from the instructions. At one time I had considered installing an outboard riser-tube for an easy visual check of water levels. Anyone else considering the ramifications of bottom-covers on watering routines? I should have some data within six months. I don't expect the same response as uprights--but I do expect significant improvements. The bottom covers are made of very loose weave material which is quite stretchy. The over all esthetic is much improved and the tank is set for a betweent the beams installation. Dehumidifier size is also 38 watts for the belly bar rather than 50. Humidistat is moved farther from the humidifier as well. Installation time is very high with one patch of velcro every four inches. I followed the directions on the first install and the velcro fell off, some from the piano and some from the cloth. I am now using staples (wood) for the piano and a heavy duty stapler for the cloth. Just the bottom cover is a 2 hour I will be using bottom covers on all new installs.
