shy wippins

So last night I get home and continue working on MY piano. ( yes, it's
true.)
I've just pulled the second coming on the whole action ( in my eyes..) and
I'm finally putting back on the wippins and lo and behold... I notice about
#26 into it:
When lifted by hand, the wippins are NO WHERE NEAR the drop screws. I wonder
if they ever were. (I'mtellinyou, it's about 1/4" away!!!!)

A little history:

I bought this off of a customer.
Got a GREAT deal.
It's a "Doll" . ( no laughing...)
Parts are good, not a crack in the thing,
BEAUTIFUL ivories ( that were FILTHY)
Piano was FILTHY.
Most of the notes did not play at ALL when seen.
This was the "quasy- thayer knuckles" post I posted a bit ago.

Well, the whole thing needed some SERIOUS lovin', and that's what I'm giving
it.
( serious lovin').

The rail for the wippins can be unscrewed from the action brackets, and IF
THE CAPSTANS ALLOW this, I am going to shim the whole wippin line forward.

I have NOT put the key board under it yet... key's just got rebushed.
I will do that tonight.

uh- oh. SSSSSSSST!!!!

I spent most of my "waiting to sleep moments " thinking about this.

Hope I'm not embarrassing myself and forgetting something.

Hmm... any of y'all seen anything like this??
