<< What is the preferred method for filling capstan holes in keys in
preparation for moving the capstans (aside from drilling, plugging,
trimming, sanding, praying, cursing, etc)?

Has anyone used any of the expoxy systems and if so, are they a
viable alternative to the above? I seem to remember that David
Stanwood recommends using some sort of wood filler but I can't seem
to remember what it was that he uses. >>

Greetings,
I use West System Epoxy with their Microlite faring filler. You can get
very close to the same density of the wood with this filler, and that is what
you want for drilling ease. It is in the archives, or failing that, the journal
had an item from me on using this same system for rebuilding the eroded sides
of keys.
   Using plugs is a hassle.
