Oof.

However, they luckily didn't know how to PROPERLY trash a piano. They've
left the keytops, keys, most dampers, strings, soundboard, and outer case
alone. They didn't realize that they could have done a lot more damage just
by pouring a liter of Coca-Cola in there, soaking everything in sight, and
scraping the case parts with a bunch of car keys ... and they could have
just tipped it over on its face (BANG) once they were done.

Still, condolences.

My biggest vandalism effort was for a Mason & Hamlin BB which people had
left in a house being completely renovated, down to cement. Everything else
was out of the house. The owner was a lawyer, and somebody was mad at him.
They took about a gallon of oil-based primer and poured it into the piano,
getting it pretty well everywhere. The only saving grace was that they
followed it with a quart of paint thinner, which meant it was still wet
when I arrived the next day. It was discovered the next morning. I gave it
first aid for several hours, and then Bob and Marcia Davis completely
rebuilt it, with lovely results.

The movers were really mad. I wiped up all the paint on the soundboard that
I could get at, but there was more under the plate, and they ruined their
blankets and shoes when they tipped it.
