There isn't a lot more depressing than to NOT be able to strike up a decent conversation with your coworkers because they don't have time for you and think you are lower class. =20 --- snip --- =20 That's so sad, and I hope it isn't the norm at most schools. While we have some colorful people, I'd have to say that our faculty is a very collegial group easy to work with and pleasant. I can't think of anyone with whom I have not had a pleasant chat periodically.
