If they leave the heat off until just before the concert, between the heat and the people in the audience, the piano will drift out of tune during the concert, and you'll be blamed. Here's what I would do. Ask them if they want the piano to sound right for the recital. If they say yes, then ask them if they are willing to do what you recommend. If they again say yes, then tell them to turn the heat on Wednesday and leave it there until after the concert. If they hesitate, or complain it will cost too much money, then the answer to question one will be, NO, we don't care. In that case, take your cue, and the attitude you have, and bring your long janes.
