We often hear claims that tuning from string #1 straight through to the top, unisons as you go is the "most stable." Or just that "tuning unisons as you go" (presumably from an A440 reference) is more stable than using a strip mute.

Has anyone published research to define exactly what is being claimeed, and support it with evidence?

Thanks! This is a good discussion. I am always trying to learn more about unisons, and tune them faster, cleaner and more stable.
