I've taken casters, hinges, etc., in and had them replated. Look under
<plating> in the yellow pages--or check with colleagues for suggestions for
shops that do this kind of work. If the ferrules and casters are in good
enough shape, it's nice to have them replated because...they fit!

Good luck.

Subject: [CAUT] nickel ferrules and casters

There is a M&H AA in the shop for refinishing, and it needs new leg ferrules
and casters in nickel. Does anyone have any suggestions for finding nickel
plated parts? All I can find in the supply catalogues is brass, and even
they are not exactly the right size. I have toyed with the idea of getting
those and having them nckel plated.

Thanks.

Caswell puts out an electroless nickel plating kit that I've used when
confronted with the problem you now face. The help from Caswell is first
rate, and the plating came out as well as any I had done by "professionals."
A web search will find them.
