Wim, Burkel makes all of Kawai's pinblocks, all the way through the line including Shigeru Kawai and EX concert grands. The "lumber core" is their way of saying a few thick layers of quarter-sawn maple instead of many thin layers of rotary cut maple. Kawai uses the rotary cut blocks, and they are generally consistent.
