Richard, Thanks for the tip, I'll look into it. The replacement crank idea from Ron N still intrigues me. I'm not having much luck finding an assortment of cranks, though. Maybe Cy or Ron N can figure out a Google word that will work. So far, I've come up with a gazillion other things you can use a crank for -- drugs, shows, ipods, ice cream freezers... Dave Davis, RPT ----- Original Message ---- From: Richard Adkins <RADKINS at coe.edu> To: Caut at ptg.org Sent: Tuesday, February 20, 2007 8:27:05 AM Subject: [CAUT] Adjustable Piano Chair source (for Dave Davis, RPT) Try this place for the blade type adjustable chair you've all been discussing. The price is not bad. I've seen those German "Beethoven Chairs" which go for $500, but they are screw type adjusting seats. I believe the chair listed below is similar to a chair that Yamaha used to sell. I'm not sure if the Yamaha chair is still available. Schaff used to sell them. I'm sure they were more costly than the CPS chair, though. http://www.cpsimports.com/Adjustable_Piano_Chair.html They also have adjustable benches. http://www.cpsimports.com/Our_Products.html I believe all these products are made in China. I got a brochure from them a few years ago at one of the conventions. I cannot attest to the durability. We do have one Chinese padded adjustable bench in a practice room, that seems to be holding up pretty well. It is about 3 or 4 years old, I think. Mostly we're buying Jansen's though. Got our first "Petit Artist Bench" a month ago for piano major's practice room. We'll see how it hold's up. It costs about $100 less than the Artist Bench. it is quite heavy compared to the Chinese bench. We'll see.
