This is actually good news... I must respectfully disagree with skeptics 
to a CAUT certification on the grounds given so far.  Having the 
advantage of being able to live in and see up close an personal both 
types of systems I must say that despite the inherent problems in a 
certified world... that world IMHO presents a far better all and all 
reality.

Its not a matter of more letters behind ones name.  Its about providing 
a truly credible credential that is demanding enough to deserve whatever 
recognition relevant interest groups can manage to market up for it.  If 
colleges and universities absolutely know that a person holding a CAUT 
<<meister>> certification is qualified to handle all aspects of 
administering and caring for a demanding piano intensive environment, 
then they will be interested.  Indeed... someone mentioned Steinway C&A 
techs.  There are schools all over the place asking to send their techs 
to Steinway Academy sessions exactly because they have the sense that 
this will be of benefit to their schools.  Steinway's all Steinway 
school policy is as successful as it is very much because they are able 
to make schools aware that such a school will draw the absolute largest 
majority of the best musician prospects... and statistics seem to bear 
this out.  Perhaps a closer alignment between CAUT and Steinway would be 
of interest in this regard. ???

As far as whether this is a place to discuss such things... we dont 
really have a CAUT-L list... so where else for the moment ?

    As you may know the CAUT Committee is working on such a credential. I
    hope I'm not overstepping anyone by this post but it seems a timely
    topic seeing as how we're approaching deadlines for council proposals. I
    would GREATLY appreciate a dialogue on this. Is it "pie in the sky" to
    develop a CAUT credential? Is it too exclusive? I don't know if this is
    a good place for this discussion, but any private emails to me would
    also help. Eric is now the chairman of this committee and I'm a
    committee member (along with Alan McCoy) given the charge of developing
    a curriculum.
