Carbon paper is getting harder to find but you may also look in art supply
stores and ask for transfer paper.  It may come in larger sheets, but that's
what scissors are for.

That really is a nifty tip...I haven't looked for carbon paper in a long
time...of course if the string lines are noticeable on the hammer you can
work in between the marks.
