They're probably fine if not exposed to extremes in humidity. However, the question is whether the Kawai hammer of 20 years ago is the same hammer as the one made today. The specs have changed and probably the felt as well. I certainly prefer the current iteration to the one produced 20 years ago generally. The other question, of course, is whether the new hammer is the best hammer for this particular instrument at this time given all the other requirements. Can't answer that one for you. Kawai produces different grades of hammers for their pianos. I would always opt for the highest grade hammer if they make that available. You can save yourself some voicing headaches. Kawai has the original hammer for that piano in stock! My question is, would these hammers sound good after sitting on the shelf for twenty years? Kind of scares me a little, like for example, I would not buy a twenty year old tire that's never been driven on! I'm interested in a few opinions about the potential deterioration of unused hammers that are old. Thanks Denis Ikeler -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
