There are a few drawbacks to moving the tray pivot in line with the underlever flange centers. One is that the back bottom edge of the tray will swing lower and hit the dags. So you have to either pare down the back of the tray or trim/angle the rear of the dags. I bought a Japanese saw to make fast work of cutting a slope on the dags when I forgot to trim the tray. The other is that a second tray return spring needs to be installed at the bass/tenor break. Losing some front weight by positioning the pivot forwards, the tray needs extra help to return to rest position. To index the flange center on a new tray pivot block, install a flange and hold the block alongside and strike the pin lightly to dimple the blocks. -- Regards, Jon Page
