"The Steinway touch" I find that the Steinway method of leaning the damper wire lightly on the guide bushing reduces the bump considerably. The added friction makes it bounce less, and you don't get the feel of the wobbling damper head on the end of the wire. So, though I gripe about the system like a lot of others, in practice I don't find it so bad, provided you regulate the wires that way. When you regulate so that the wires are centered, and there is a fair amount of space between the wire and the felt, it feels pretty awful.
