It was meant really as a rhetorical question because I think that it's very difficult if not impossible to determine since pianists mostly adjust to whatever is there.

My feeling is that no, they like for the bass to feel more massive and 
weighty than the treble ... but I have noted in the past that my ideas 
and their reactions do not always have a one-on-one correspondence. It's 
one of the good parts of getting to work with excellent pianists, a 
window into what they perceive when playing, which is not always what we 
would predict.

And who is "they"? Do they all feel the same way, or are we just talking 
averages here?
