[CAUT] Steinway verdigris

My guess would be that university pianos probably either get replacement 
parts or get moved on, most of the time. On the other hand, when I was 
there in the 1960's Oberlin had a ton of M's in the practice which were 
all of the right era. I wonder if any are still there and whether any of 
those still have original parts. They got a lot of use.

I have another question, though. The most recent batch of center pins I 
got from Schaff were solid nickel instead of brass. I don't like them, 
because they are hard to cut off. However, I did start wondering if 
anyone had repinned a verdigris-prone Steinway action with them .... 
since they have no copper to make the verdigris, if one reamed pretty 
well and then used nickel instead of brass, would the old parts keep 
working?
