If indeed repetition is the problem, then your two finger test is not accurate enough. Ask the pianist to demonstrate the problem to you in person. Determine at that time whether the sustain pedal is engaged. If it is not, have the pianist activate the sustain pedal and then attempt to demonstrate the problem again. If the problem goes away, then your concern about the damper system is strengthened. If it does not, you have further investigation to do in the action, the parts involved, and their correctness of operation. Keith A.
