One of the more interesting contentions of Dr. Al Sanderson was to the effect
that when changing pitch the plate struts were being compressed or
decompressed. His proof was to measure the pitch of each note on a piano then
removing the bass strings and remeasuring the pitches and plotting the
difference.

It clearly show that the plate struts where being decompressed as opposed to
the soundboard being decompressed. The tension or pitch differences stopped
cold at the middle/treble section plate brace. If the soundboard was being
effected the pitch differences would have continued past that brace.

All the information about bridge roll is not yet in. There is a strong
possibility that belly rail or long side flex of the case is at fault, or a
combination of roll and flex.

Happy New Year To ALL.
