ernst kaps (german piano constructor)

Can anyone give me more information on Ernst Kaps, who lived from
1827 - 1880(?) in Dresden, (East-) Germany.
I am offered a piano manufactured by his company that  is more than
60 years old and I wonder if this is a good piano.
The piano-seller said to me: "this is a Kaps, to you it means nothing
but to me it means everything". The piano has a very ligh "toucher".
For your information, I can't play but I intend to learn in the future.
