Jeff,
We have had a couple L's of your vintage come through our shop that we
rebuilt. We did not replace the teflon bushings in the wippens, but did
replace hammers and shanks. The case was refinished and restrung. We sold
it for about $22,000. (At least that's what I heard, lowly technician I am)
If it were up to me, I would have replaced the wippens too. I don't care
for teflon and don't know many techs in the Boise area who will even bother
with them. As long as you're hanging new hammers, restring it. We did an
action rebuild on an M a couple months ago without restringing and although
the new hammers made a difference, in the end we had to put on new bass
strings.
