Jumping tuning pins

Dear Ron:

There are two kinds of jumpy pins.

1 Those which are way too tight.
2 Those which have oil in the block. (usually rubbing oil near the Bass
  end.)

The competitors of Baldwin multi-laminate blocks started the story
about too much glue in the block. The glue is a very small percentage
of the thickness of the block. It does however keep the pins very
tight unless someone was careless and wobbly in drilling the block.
