Eric Leatha inquired about backcheck installation methods for rebuilders. Susan Graham detailed her method of installation in the PTG Journal a few years back. She used a drill press (turned off) as the main equipment, along with a jig to support the key at the proper angle, etc. As I remember, it was a pretty good series of articles she wrote...sorry I don't have the exact year/month of the issue(s) handy but a quick glance at the latest index should pull them up.
