belt sanding bridge pins...

Please excues the redundancy if someone has mentioned this before me.

When using a belt sander to finish bridge pins, remember that there is a
significant amount of heat generated by this procedure.  Enough that you can
negate the positives of installing new bridge pins.

With enough exhuberance, even a file can heat the bridge pins enough to cause
problems.

The upshot of this is: USE GREAT CARE WHEN "LEVELING" BRIDGE PINS.  Or better
yet, use plated pins (available from several scources, including Yamaha) and
don't grind them off at all.  Instead, drill to the same depth and drive them
level!!
