We use them at Oberlin on (gulp) Steinway pianos as diagnostic tools and
remedial parts. In regard to the former, it's a good way of approximating what
the change in sound and feel to an action would be with heavier hammers. In
regard to the latter, it's a quick fix for that action with worn  hammers that
doesn't sound too bad but is crying for the inertia lost from hammer wear. Try
them. The results are really interesting.
