Aubry, It was my post about using a nut to reform threads after cutting a threaded shaft, but you are right, those are mighty fine threads. Get yourself a knife file, it will come in handy all over the place. After cutting the shaft use the file to recut any damaged threads then use a wire wheel, if you have one. the debur the end. Alternatively, if you can fine a die of the right type you can use that, but you may not be able to because of the threads/inch (tpi). If you have a machinist in the area that will take the time will be able to cut the shaft any number of whys without damaging the threads or he can reform them easily.
