Keith, It's not so much that these instruments were made without the top three notes.... it's that all the others added the three notes. The very first notes on a piano nor the very last few are seldom the best sounding.. One a GOOD piano listen to note A-85, then C-88. Which sounds better. ? Also, on the same piano listen to A-0,then C-1. Which sounds better? On a Boesendorffer Imp. listen to A-0, then to the C that is 9 semi-tones lower. Which sounds best?
