Shift Damping Problem - Possible Remedies?

Dear Jim:

Now that you have identified the problem (thank you),  how about some
solutions?
One thought I have would apply to a residential situation:  employ the
Bosendorfer solution!  Another is:  where the piano is 30 years old and
original damping is diminished,  perhaps a new set would improve things.
I am interested in other ideas!
