Hi all, I thought I would jump in and add my 2 cents. I wonder if the distance between the backcheck and the hammer tail is acting like a Hemholtz resonator and absorbing sound at specific frequencies--if anyone out there has Reyburn Cybertuner or a real time analyser and access to a quality grand they could check this out!
