By using the muscles in the leg and ankle it is possible to lift even a
vertical enough to be able to move the same from the wall.  It is awkward for a
vertical but I have done it with those big old monsters with damaged casters.

By taking little movements at a time a piano can be moved this way without
involving the back muscles.
