American Supply hammers (complaint-question-long and sort of off-topic :-{

Dear list:

Has any body elses on this list had problems on a fairly regular basis when
it comes to getting stuff (particularly hammers)from American Supply?

I have three times in this last year ordered hammers from them with special
instructions regarding the rake and side angles of complete sets only to
receive them bored incorrectly. The first time the samples were sent also so
I figured it would be wiser to take the measurements myself and them give
them the info by phone so there could possibly be no mistakes...boy was I
wrong.

Now, I am not one to bad-mouth some body or company so I was just wanting to
get a general idea from this body of techs. This happen to anybody else? Is
this normal? Am I normal? :-))

Or, am I doing something wrong? I realize that they deal with a large number
of orders across the country and possibly around the world but it just seems
that I am getting all the "errors".

On this last set I asked for the last 8 treble hammers to be bored 2 degrees
side angle to the left (like the bass hammers) and instead they were 2
degrees to the right. I gave these specs to the owner on the phone myself
and even asked him to repeat it back to me that he understood and he said
yes he did. He asked why I needed them bored this way and that 2 degrees
wouldnt make any difference. ;-{ I then explained that on this piano
the hammer butts and shanks were offset 2 degrees to the right so the
hammers side angle has to be 2 degrees to the left to compensate and allow
for a straight strike point-is this confusing to anyone? He also said that
they don't like to do this and said that I couldn't return them. Well, if
they bored them correctly with or without samples that disclaimer wouldn't
apply. Am I missing something here?

I apologize if this was far off topic, etc., but I need to know if I did
something wrong or ????
I am going to call them tommorrow and see if they can't at least send me the
last 8 bored correctly.....

Thanks for "listening"
