Pull the piano away from the wall far enough to get behind it comfortably. (I know, easier said than done sometimes) You can than use the mirror to see underneath/behind the backboard and up to the pinblock/ back assembly joint. Use the flashlight by shining it in the mirror rather than up at the joint and you will always be able to see what the mirror is pointing at. If there is a failure you should be able to see an uneveness of the joint, if not the seperation. If not.... Stanley has a very nice line of chisels :-) Jim Bryant (FL)
