Erard grand

has nothing to do with a real dipscrew.  Can somebody tell me what's the use
of this screw?  When you tight it, you see the hammer doesn't fall down
anymore, when you unscrew it, the hammer falls down again.  This little screw
makes part of the unit that fixes the hammer to the hammer rail.
 There is also something like an upside down T that has the function of the
dipscrew; does anybody knows a good trick to regulate this T?

 I am not familiar with that particular grand, but I find that many of the
pianos I regulate, do not have specifications in the book.  Specifications
only get you in the ball park, and the rest you adjust do make the piano play
as well as it could play.

To start with, find a hammer blow distance that will work.  Most will work at
1 3/4 " to 1 7/8" (American).  Most key dip is around 2 1/2".  If aftertouch
is a problem, try raising the hammer height a bit.

Set your samples and if they work and very consistant, your regulation will be
as well.
