Hmmmm. a 3" tuning pin? I just finished dismantling an old English bird- cage piano. John Browne I think it was. I noticed that in several places, the pins were easily an inch longer than the neighbors. It appeared that they were the extra length to give clearance over the edges of the partial plate. The extended length was all above the becket . Now, I am not going out there in the firepit, and sift through the ashes where the pinblock was burned, unless somebody tells me that they really need about a dozen of these long pins.
