What is "Flagpoling?"

Hi Glenn:

In piano tuning terminology, flagpoling refers to the practice of
bending a tuning pin up and down on a vertical piano. Just imagine a
person crawling out on a horizontal flag pole and bouncing up and down.
There is very little stability in such a situation. Others refer to the
same action as similar to slot machining (you know, those one armed
bandits?).
