Jon, I've used a tie-down stretch cord (or whatever one calls them) with hooks at each end. The kind used to tie down luggage on a car top luggage rack. It works pretty well, usually, depending on how much room there is. Some pianos, you HAVE to remove the keys to even get the action out! The only thing you have to watch is putting too much stress on the lifter pinning when stretching the cord from one side to the other. If you try this, be sure you get one that's long enough without having to stretch it TOO much to hook on the opposite action bracket. That makes it easier. Hope this gives you an idea.
